A developing report says U.K. lawmakers have voted in favor of holding a snap election on June 8.
The decision came after a debate in the House of Commons.
This is just one day after Prime Minister Theresa May called for an early election. Bloomberg reports that May wants to strengthen the government, both domestically and in Brexit negotiations with the EU.
Five hundred and twenty-two lawmakers voted for the motion and 13 voted against it.
