Arizona — On Friday morning two men were killed after being run over by their friend’s SUV while packing up fishing gear.

After a morning of fishing, the driver, whose name has not been released, went to get the vehicle from the parking lot to pick up his friends, 79-year-old Billy Cox and 69-year-old Michael Holguin, at the fishing spot.

But as the man backed up towards them his foot hit the accelerator instead of the brake and the car hit and dragged the men for a short distance before stopping.

Attempts by the man to resuscitate his two friends with CPR proved futile and police pronounced them dead a short time later.

The Tucson Police Department contends that alcohol and speed were not factors in the incident.
