Man arrested for running over woman inspecting a fender bender

Long Island authorities arrested a man Sunday who fatally drove over an 18-year-old woman six weeks ago while she inspected damage from their fender-bender.

Daniel Coppolo, 31, was charged with manslaughter for heartlessly killing a dental student last month. The victim, Taranjit Parmar ,was driving her 2018 Jeep on her way home on Nov. 9 when she got into a minor accident with Coppolo’s red pick up truck on Hempstead Turnpike near Gardiners Ave. in Levittown, Nassau County.

Coppolo was making a turn from Gardiners Ave. onto Hempstead Turnpike when he hit the passenger side of Parmar’s vehicle. Both cars pulled into a nearby gas station, but as Parmar was checking the damage to her vehicle, Coppolo slammed on the gas, ran over Parmar, and sped off.

The Deer Park resident is also facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with physical evidence and reckless endangerment. He was awaiting arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
