A man has been arrested after brutally attacking an 18-year-old woman outside a gym in New Hampshire. The suspect allegedly punched the victim nearly 40 times in a “vicious, unprovoked” attack.

Jordan C. Lamonde, 22, of Portsmouth, was taken into custody Monday on a charge of second-degree assault, Rochester Police Chief Paul Toussaint announced.

A 16-second clip of the attack was released last month showing Lamonde assaulting Erin McCarthy, 18, of Rochester, outside a Planet Fitness gym in Rochester. The footage shows Lamonde exiting his vehicle and punching McCarthy from behind as she walks to her car.

One week after the attack, McCarthy claimed on Facebook that the suspect waited in the area eight hours before assaulting her by punching her 39 times, primarily to the back of the head. He also kicked her twice in the face.

Lamonde, who remains held on $150,000 bail, is expected to be arraigned Tuesday at Strafford County Superior Court.
