A Houston man has been arrested after a video showed him hitting a 7-year-old boy 62 times.
On Thursday, Feb. 16, a camera, which was designed to catch illegal dumping, caught a father hitting his son on the head, torso, legs, and buttocks. One of the deputies monitoring the cameras saw the incident in the video control room while it was happening and reported it immediately.
“This guy ravaged this kid, he was hit 62 times, we counted,” said Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen. “He was bent over the hood of a car and hit with a belt. It’s just an extremely sad situation.”
Kordarell Williams, 27, was arrested three hours after the incident, according to ABC 13 News.
“I’m proud and relieved that quick action by our deputies led to the arrest and to medical care for the child and that justice will be done,” Constable Rosen said in a news release. “As a law enforcement leader, a parent, and a life-long member of this community, I’m deeply concerned and upset by such an incident.”
ABC reports the boy was transported to the hospital for medical treatments after the incident, but Child Protective Services does not currently have custody of the child.
