After a long day of work on Monday, Tim Mokwa of Clearwater, Florida was driving down U.S. Highway 19 in Dunedin when a giant 6-foot snake slithered out from the car hood. “I was in rush hour traffic when it popped out,” Mokwa told media outlets.
Quickly without hesitation, Mokwa pulled into a Walmart parking lot after making eye contact with the behemoth reptile. However, he didn’t dare leave his car since he wasn’t positive if it was a venomous water moccasin. Mokwa pulled out his cellphone to capture the creature’s ascent from the car hood.
Mokwa theorizes the origin of the snake was from his visit to Weeki Wachee State Park last weekend, where the snake likely moved into the front hood of his vehicle. After it slithered out from the car hood, Mokwa lost sight of the creature — and said it still might be close by or hanging around.
“Worst part is, I’m not 100 percent sure if it fell off or went back under the hood,” Mokwa admitted to a television station. The captured video footage of the snake leaving the car can be viewed below:
