Federal authorities indicted a Florida man on Friday who allegedly kept a girl as a sex slave for more than a decade.

George Joseph England was recently relocated from a California prison into federal custody and will be extradited to South Florida.

According to prosecutors, in the early 1970s England allegedly purchased Jackie Zudis, then 5, from her mother in Vietnam. England then spent nearly three decades evading the law after failing to appear for sentencing in 1977 on a conviction for molesting three of Zudis’ friends.

England lived under a pseudonym in South Florida—much of the time in Palm Beach County—where he continued to sexually assault Zudis until she was an adult.

England served a brief sentence following a 2005 arrest in South Florida on federal charges, then returned to California, where he spent three years in prison.

The announcement of federal charges against England denied him his release which was scheduled in early April. He is expected to appear before a federal magistrate next week in Fort Lauderdale.
