In northeast Atlanta, a fatal incident occurred between a man and his wife outside an Ingles supermarket in the suburb of Auburn.

Darrin Russell, 50, allegedly shot his wife Dorothy Russell, 51, of Statham, Georgia, to death while in a car. After murdering his wife, Russell attempted to escape in a Mercedes but was caught by police 45 minutes later.

No reasoning has been given as to why Russell shot and killed his wife. He has been charged with one count of murder, and is currently being held in the Barrow County jail, according to Sheriff Jud Smith.

Police learned of the incident after a 911 call was reportedly made about a domestic dispute in the parking lot near the grocery store.
