In one of the most un-American moves of all time, a man has been found guilty of violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act after he shot a bald eagle from its nest and ran it over multiple times with his ATV.
According to media IJR, Allen Thacker felt a bald eagle was eating too many fish from his pond, so he decided to do something about it.
Rather than kill the bird cleanly, Thacker shot it with .22 caliber rifle, one of the quietest weapons on the market, and thus allowing the bird to live but preventing it from flying. In an unbelievable display of cruelty, Thacker proceeded to run the bird over three to four times with his ATV.
Upon the arrival of authorities, Thacker tried to cover up his actions. But when eye witnesses came forward, he revealed where he hid the body. Thacker said he believes bald eagles are “too protected.”
He faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
