David Williams, a white father-of-four, set his own car and motorcycle on fire then painted a racial slur on the garage door of his home in order to stage a hate crime.
David Williams, 34, from Denton, Texas, and his wife Jenny, woke up to find their truck and motorcycle burning and the slur, “n***** lovers”, written on their garage door in spray paint on December 12.
Denton Police investigated the incident as a hate crime due to the nature of the slur written on his house and, in response to the “heinous” act, many people donated over $ 5,000 to the family to help them fix their damage.
A GoFundMe page set up by Mr Williams’s sister and a friend of the family was responsible for the raising of the more than $5,000. The page read: ‘The kids won’t be able to have anything under the Christmas tree due to this horrible act. Please find it in your heart to please donate what you can to help this family of 6 out.”
However, on Tuesday, Jenny Williams said her husband confessed to her that it was actually he who committed the “hate crimes” to their own property. Although David Williams has since checked himself into a mental facility, he will be arrested upon release. He has yet to state his motive for committing this fake “hate crime.”
Jenny has promised to return all the money raised.
