A Colorado man has been arrested for throwing a toddler in front of oncoming traffic Friday night, reportedly telling police the child was “the devil.”
Bryant Hickcox threw his 2-year-old cousin into the middle of a Colorado Springs road Friday night, as cars approached an intersection. Luckily, the cars on the road were paying attention and the child was not struck. Officials said Hickcox defended his actions by telling police the child was the devil.
“He threw him hard into traffic and the baby rolled,” witness Tracy Willner told KKTV. “Thank God the lady in front of us swerved and was paying attention.”
Willner immediately ran to comfort the child, while her husband sprinted after Hickcox.
“I’m just standing there in the rain holding the baby, screaming, ‘Someone call 911, someone call 911.’ A lady gave me a towel and covered him up. I just held him right there and for a little while he stopped crying,” she told the news outlet. “I just wanted to keep him as warm and safe as possible.”
The child’s parents are still trying to rap their heads around what happened, while Hickcox is behind bars at El Paso County Jail. His bail is set at $50,000.
