Man Uses Woman’s Changing Room; And No, He’s Not Transgender

Lisa Sickles was using a changing room at a Ross department store in Mesquite, Texas on Monday when she heard a distinct voice within the changing area – a man’s voice.

Sickles told the store manager about the man inside one of the changing rooms meant for women’s use only. The manager’s response? “He was representing himself as a woman today,” said the manager after she went in and asked the man.

“He was in no way dressed as a woman. He had on jeans, a t-shirt, 5 o’clock shadow, very deep voice. He was a man,” she recalled. While the Ross department store has a policy about not discriminating against transponders, it was clear this man was not one. However, the store basically disregarded Sickles’ concern in the matter, and recommended to wait for the man to finish using the changing room so that his feelings would not be hurt.

“What about me? Or my feelings?” Sickles asked. She left the store feeling that her own feelings were not considered by the store. This is not the first case of its kind. The wake of these cases come after President Obama issued an executive directive about opening up bathrooms and changing rooms to transponders in all public schools, which presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump has vowed to undo if he becomes president.
