NEW YORK — At a Brooklyn homeless shelter, a gruesome fight broke out leaving one man without a finger and another beaten half to death.

The two men had a dispute inside the shelter on Chauncey Street in Bushwick at around 9:30 p.m. Following the confrontation, a 41-year-old man involved viciously bit off the finger of his 49-year-old adversary.

The older man then beat the younger man until he was unconscious, police said.

Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital where the younger man is said to be in critical condition. The second man has been treated for the hand injury and is in stable condition.
