ABC News journalist Martha Raddatz looked like she was close to tearing up on election night as votes came in and things started to look bad for Hillary Clinton.
While discussing trump she brought up foreign policy and said, “Donald Trump, I questioned what he would do about Syria and his understanding of military policy and civilian/military divide, I don’t know that he really has a plan for what he’s going to do there.”
She then continued on the subject, choking back tears as she brought up Tim Kaine and his son who is currently in the military.
“I was also looking back at an interview Tim Kaine gave. Tim Kaine has a son in the Marine Corps. He was asked, by John Dickerson, ‘So if Donald Trump is democratically elected, and your son is serving as a Marine, you wouldn’t trust his life under that commander-in-chief?’ Kaine said, ‘I wouldn’t.'”
The emotion can be heard in Raddatz voice as she said “That’s a pretty extraordinary thing to say if you have a son in the Marine Corps and you don’t trust the Commander in Chief. The people in the military defend the Constitution.”
