Mass School Shooting Plot Stopped at Last Moment

FLORIDA — Two middle school students ages 13 and 14, were arrested Thursday for allegedly planning a mass shooting at their school located in the Orlando area.

According to local news outlets, one of the students was to drop a pencil on the gym floor as a signal for the shootings to begin.  Students who reportedly knew about the plan were told to wear white and shout “Eugene” to avoid being a target, while other students were warned not to come to school.

Police searched the homes where the students live.   They found weapons at both homes.

The teens were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The students are now being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.

School faculty at The Villages Charter Middle School became aware of the alleged plot after hearing students talking about it in class.

The suspects told police they were planning to mimic the Columbine shooting that took place in Colorado many years ago.
