Mayor Khan bombarded by angry residents over tower fire (video)

Mayor Khan’s remarks about the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London were not received kindly by residents Thursday.

Khan began his statement with praise for the bravery the authorities showed:

“The way our firefighters, and emergency services, have responded has been breathtaking. The heroism, running into dangers, the fact that they have gone above and beyond the call of duty, has been remarkable. The reason we should be proud to be Londoners is a combination of their response, and the response from this community. Coming together, helping their brothers and sisters, neighbours – showing the very best of London.”

But some believe that the fire, which engulfed the residence tower and has claimed 12 lives and counting, could’ve been prevented, and feel authorities have been devoid of answers. They cut Mr. Khan off mid-sentence to let him know that.

One onlooker shouted, “We’ve seen nobody. Somebody needs to be held accountable.”

Another, “This could have been prevented.”
