Media mocks Trump cabinet members for paying tribute to President

The second cabinet meeting for the Trump administration was held Monday, but it was the first time President Trump’s full Cabinet was all together for a meeting.

President Trump opened the meeting with remarks of his own, before allowing each cabinet member to introduce themselves and add their own remarks. The meeting then went behind closed doors, away from the media.

However, many members of the media are condemning the way the meeting began, with the cabinet members each thanking the President.

Vice President Mike Pence said in his introductory comments,  “This is the greatest privilege of my life is to serve as vice president to a president who’s keeping his word to the American people.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said, “It’s great to be here and celebrate this group.” He said law enforcement all over America are so thrilled that we are going to support them and work together to fight the rising crime. “It’s an honor to be able to serve you in that regard and to send the exact right message, and the response is fabulous around the country,” he concluded.

Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, said, “Mr. President, I’m privileged to be here, and deeply honored, and I want to thank you for your commitment to the American workers.”

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said, “It’s a new day at the United Nations, we now have a very strong voice… the international community knows we’re back.”

On it went around the table as each cabinet member made their opening statements on the focus of their agenda and their appreciation to be a part of the administration.

Defense Secretary James Mattis said it’s an honor to represent the men and women of the Department of Defense, and “we are grateful for the sacrifices our people are making in order to strengthen our military.”

Reince Priebus state, “On behalf of the entire senior staff around you, Mr. President, we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing that you’ve given us to serve your agenda and the American people, and we’re continuing to work very hard every day to accomplish those goals.”

CIA Director Mike Pompeo drew laughter when he stated, “It’s an honor to serve as your CIA Director, and it’s an incredible privilege to lead the men and women who are providing intelligence so we can do the national security mission, and in the finest tradition of the CIA, I’m not gonna say a damn thing in front of the media.”

Members of the media mocked the cabinet members for paying tribute to Trump.
