Megyn Kelly Cries

‘Settle For More.’ That’s the name of Megyn Kelly’s new book. The Fox News anchor received a $6,000,000 upfront fee to write the book about her experience of going from lawyer to primetime news anchor.

Kelly has been nonstop in her quest to make it a best seller.  She spent the entire last week soliciting the book by appearing as a guest on the other shows that air on Fox News.   She appeared on Outnumbered, Tucker Carlson Tonight, The Five, Fox & Friends, America’s Newsroom… she did them all.

It’s during these appearances when Kelly tells of how the book details the early death of her father, and how a late night rerun of Oprah pushed her to settle for more.   According to Kelly, Dr. Phil told Oprah that the difference between a successful person and an unsuccessful person is that the unsuccessful person settled for less.  Kelly said it was those words by Dr. Phil that made her abandon her career as a lawyer and search for a career in journalism.

But it’s the appearances outside the Fox News Channel that are sparking controversy. A few days ago she appeared on CNN and told Anderson Cooper about the chapter in which she details her experiences with Donald Trump.  She tells of how the Trump campaign allegedly threatened her physically.  And how those threats led to greater threats by Trump supporters.   She says the threats forced her to hire body guards out of fear of being killed.  Kelly says it got so bad that Fox News’ top boss, Bill Shine, called the Trump campaign to request they lay off his shining star.  Allegedly, Shine told Trump’s lawyer that a dead Megyn Kelly wouldn’t help Trump win the presidency.

Trump isn’t the only one taking blows from Kelly in order for her to sell books.  Former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes is also a victim of Kelly’s pen.

In multiple TV interviews this week, Kelly claims Alies sexually harassed her for a prolonged period of time, but that she kept it to herself until other women came forward.

Bill O’Reilly isn’t happy with Kelly’s interviews because he says she is hurting the company that has taken very good care of her.   Ailes made Kelly a multi-millionaire many times over, and he groomed her into one of cable TV’s biggest stars.

During his Walk & Talk today, Dennis Michael Lynch commented on a recent interview in which Kelly appeared to be crying while speaking about Roger Ailes and his poor behavior.

Although he is a defender of women and women’s rights, DML isn’t buying Kelly’s tears. He points out how the interview was intended to look like a “sofa conversation,” but in DML’s opinion it’s all smoke, mirrors and pure theatrics.  For example, DML points out how two of her books are propped up on the sofa during the interview.  “Who does that?  I’ve never seen any interview like that in my life. She will do anything to sell her book.”

DML punctuates his opinions by asking a fury of rhetorical questions: “If her goal in writing the Ailes chapter is to help women who are exposed to sexual harassment in the workplace, why do women have to buy her book in order to get Kelly’s wisdom on the issue? Why not use the power of her TV show?  Why not host a one-hour Friday night Kelly File special about overcoming sexual harassment?”

DML also goes on to ask why Kelly would praise Ailes time and again over the years if she was so disgusted with his behavior? Was her praise of Ailes nothing more than a way of getting the 9pm hour and a multi-million dollar contract? Perhaps the answers are in the book? Probably not.  Then DML asked his listeners to search Google for Kelly’s seductive photographs that appeared in GQ magazine, and to listen to her interview with Howard Stern where she referred to her husband’s penis size.  “Who does that?”

Kelly’s book is getting slammed on Amazon.com by Trump supporters who have never forgiven Kelly for her poor treatment of Trump at the first GOP debate last year.  They have not forgotten how she referred to Trump as a possible sexual predator time and again in the weeks leading up to the election. The poor reviews on Amazon are said to be phony reviews written by people looking to hurt Kelly.  Either way, it’s only bringing more light to Kelly’s book.  Therefore, DML predicts sales will be great, millions will be earned, and Megyn Kelly will once again see herself in bright lights.  In other words, she will settle for more of what she loves most.   Good for her.
