Governor Mike Huckabee and his former colleague at Fox News, Megyn Kelly, went head to head on Friday after Kelly rejected Huckabee’s attempt to defend Trump’s temporary ban on Muslims.
Kelly started the segment by playing clips from a speech given at the DNC by the father of fallen US Army Captain, Humayan Khan. Kelly told Huckabee that Trump’s proposed immigration policies would have prevented Khan to fight for America because as a Muslim, Khan would have been kept out of the U.S.
Huckabee, who is an avid Trump supporter, provided a detailed explanation based on Trump’s actual proposal. According to Huckabee, Khan would not have been kept from entering the United States because the ban is only temporary. But Kelly rejected Huckabee’s explanation because according to her interpretation, Trump’s policies are more stringent than the governor was describing.
The exchange between Kelly and Huckabee turned somewhat heated until Kelly finally stepped back by saying the governor was explaining Trump’s stance in a manner which was far less controversial.
