According to the Wall Street Journal, several high profile Mexican leaders are making a stand against the threat of increased deportations of illegal alien Mexicans in the United States.
Their strategy calls for running advertising campaigns appealing to illegal aliens already in the United States. The ads will push for migrants to pursue court cases in the United States, if they’re detained by law enforcement.
The goal is to push millions of court cases into the American legal system across the United States. The former Foreign Minister of Mexico Jorge Castaneda said, “[t]he backlog in the immigration system is tremendous, until [U.S. President Donald] Trump desists in this stupid idea.”
This strategy is a transparent attempt to block up the American legal system by migrants that are illegally in the United States. As such, Mexico’s government has not endorsed the strategy.
Regardless, Mexico Prime Minister Enrique Peña Nieto has set up a $50 Million fund to help Mexicans that are deported from the United States. Nieto also met with deported migrants at the at Mexican airports and canceled a trip to Washington to meet Trump last month.
