Well known for his staunch criticism of President Trump, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore said on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night that he hopes he is the president’s “worst enemy” because he represents “Trump’s base.”

Mayer brought up Moore’s recently concluded one-man, anti-Trump Broadway show, which experienced extremely low ticket sales in various cities across the U.S.

After the final show, President Trump sent out a Twitter post on Oct. 28, in which he said, “While not at all presidential I must point out that the Sloppy Michael Moore Show on Broadway was a TOTAL BOMB and was forced to close. Sad!”

Mayer asked, “Why was Trump so provoked by your play?” adding, “Trump did really go ape, and was tweeting about it.”

“He waited till it was over, so I thought that showed discipline,” Moore quipped.

“I think Trump has had a complicated relationship with me, the way that he’s tweeted at me in the past and danced around, without trying to get too angry, because I am his base. I am his demographic, and I’m an angry middle-aged white guy from the midwest, and I am, hopefully, his worst enemy,” Moore declared.

“The battle is to get as many of the people that I grew up with to go with me, and not with him. We lost Michigan by two votes per precinct, that’s it, and so I’m on a mission to make sure that doesn’t happen again, not just in Michigan but across the country,” he declared.
