Michelle Obama: Women Who Voted Against Clinton ‘Voted Against Their Own Voice’

Speaking at an “Inbound” marketing conference in Boston Wednesday, former First Lady Michelle Obama inserted many political points in her remarks, as she spoke out against the current Trump administration, and slammed women who did not vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” Mrs. Obama said during a question and answer session.

Speaking of President Trump, Mrs. Obama said, “He is our Commander in Chief – he was voted in. Haha..,” adding, “You know, we may not like it.”

“When you’ve been in that position, you’ll see that most ‘formers’ do take a step back. They do let the current holder of the office lead. You do step up when you’re asked, and you do try to make sure what you say is constructive,” she said.

She criticized Republicans for not supporting her husband, but suggested Democrats are “leading with grace, humility and diplomacy” in the wake of the Trump administration:

“Now, like I said, there was a whole party that didn’t do that for my husband – a whole political party that did not do that. But what we’ve learned is that part of our legacy is leading with grace and being humble and diplomatic,” she said, interrupted by cheers.

Then she encouraged her audience to take action and fight back:

“It’s up to the voters to decide how they feel about health care. This is in the hands of the voters because you’re seeing right now that, regardless of what you think, if a party in power decides they’re going to get rid of something because they don’t like it, they may not care what you think,” Obama told her audience.

“The Affordable Care Act isn’t Barack’s legacy – it’s the country’s legacy, so it’s not up to us or him or one person to defend that – the country has to decide what it wants to do, and that’s decided at the polls. Right now, people spoke, and this is the leader that they voted for, so we have to balance how we respond in this position. You’ve got to figure out when to fight, how to fight, when to say things … because you can’t just be the talking head,” she cautioned.

“Barack is not going to turn into what this president was, just somebody tweeting in the wind and stirring up [a] mess, without really knowing what they were talking about,” she claimed.

Obama said she doesn’t miss the White House, but claimed she misses the people and the work. “Now, we’re breathing for the first time,” Mrs. Obama said.
