Migrant charged with sexually abusing children, one being as young as 5-years-old

A 47-year-old asylum seeker has received a suspended sentence of 15 months in jail for sexually abusing several children, some of whom were as young as five.

The unnamed man, originally from Afghanistan, abused the children in his asylum home in Germany, in which he lived for over a year. A German newspaper reports the man was able to cover up his conduct living in shared accommodations.

The judge, Stefan Lenzenhuber, actually took mercy on the convict, changing the sentence to “suspended,” which means he won’t face any real jail time. The prosecutors say that in total there were three victims, all boys between the ages of 5 and 6.

German authorities have dealt repeatedly with heinous crimes from migrants over the past two years.

Earlier this year, in Bavaria, a 41-year-old man, also from Afghanistan, stabbed a five-year-old to death in his asylum home. In Herford, Germany, earlier this year, local authorities were accused of covering up sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl by a man from Ghana.

A report released earlier this month stated that over half of terror plots in the country over the past few years have stemmed from migrants.

“The increase in the threat to Germany is especially stark,” writes the report’s author. “There were no plots in Germany in 2014, and only two in 2015. In 2016, this increased eightfold. There is a straightforward reason for this: In 2015, Germany took in over 1 million refugees and 2016 saw a surge in plots involving refugees.”
