A mother in England is being questioned by detectives after allegedly using a potentially fatal bleach enema on her son to “cure” his autism.
The woman from Cheshire was reported to police after sharing her method for the dangerous procedure to others on a secret Facebook group.
The group, which costs $78 to join, has been set up by parents who think autism is caused by “parasites.”
Parents post pictures of the parasites leaving their children after the life-threatening treatment has been performed.
The treatment, known as CD (Chloride Dioxide) or MMS (Master Miracle Solution), is given orally or via enema and is being sold in the UK by online dealers.
It includes two chemicals — sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid — that combine to form bleach.
Autism campaigner Emma Dalmayne infiltrated the online group and found the Cheshire mom appearing to confess to using CD on her young son.
Facebook posts from the mom show her admitting to giving “25 drops a day” to her son.
Dalmayne, an autistic mom-of-six, is now trying to get the government to ban the treatments and has started a petition calling for the “cures” to be made illegal. She claims it already has more than 54,000 signatures.
Parents post images of “parasites” in their children’s diapers which they believe have been expelled, but Dalmayne says these are pieces of bowel lining.
The “cure” has already been linked to one death and there are several reported cases of those taking it suffering serious injuries.
Dalmayne expressed that “there is no cure for autism. It isn’t a disease or a disorder, it’s a neurological difference.”
