Recently filed Justice Department documents show that Monica Crowley is partnering with Democratic pollster Doug Schoen to work with Ukrainian billionaire oligarch Victor Pinchuk.
Crowley was forced to give up the opportunity to be a spokesperson for the Trump administration’s National Security Council in January after being accused of having plagiarized parts of her Ph.D. dissertation, her new book, and newspaper columns she has written. Crowley has denied the allegations, claiming that they were part of a “political hit job,” but the report noted that the plagiarism theory has not been debunked.
According to a report in The Hill on Tuesday, Crowley “will be providing outreach services on behalf of Mr. Victor Pinchuk.” Crowley’s duties will include “inviting government officials and other policy makers to attend conferences and meetings, such as the annual Munich Security Conference, to engage in learning and dialogue regarding issues of concern to Mr. Pinchuk,” according to documents.
Worth nearly $2 billion, Pinchuk heads the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, which has given millions to the Clinton Global Initiative. He also has hosted both Bill and Hillary Clinton at his foundation’s annual conference. In 2015, he donated $150,000 to the Trump Foundation for a video-feed speech from then-candidate Donald Trump.
Records show that Schoen has earned $469,000 working for Pinchuk since 2011, but it’s been three years since he lobbied on his behalf. Schoen has mostly been doing philanthropic work for the billionaire. Filed to the Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, disclosures show that Crowley will be “working on Schoen’s existing contract.”
