In the early hours of Wednesday morning, around 3,000 protesters gathered outside the apartment complex home of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, demanding the Democrat to fight back against President Trump’s Cabinet choices.
The apartment complex, located at Grand Army Plaza near Prospect Park West in Brooklyn, saw floods of angered demonstrators who chanted slogans demonizing Schumer’s neutral and “centrist” stances on Trump’s Cabinet selections.
Many of the protesters chanted expressions including, “What the f—, Chuck,” and “Stay strong, Chuck.”
Signs were showcased by the protesters, many of them etched with messages that followed a theme of demanding Schumer to “show some spine” and “resist Trump.”
Brad Wolchansky, a 40-year-old soccer coach from Flatbush and protester, proclaimed to reporting news media at the scene: “Senator Schumer needs to know we’re watching him… He works for us. We need him to be bold. We need him to stand up to Trump and oppose his picks.”
“He’s talking the talk on social media, but is he walking the walk?” asked Cambra Moniz-Edwards, 35, of Brooklyn. “What the f––, Chuck?!”
Moniz-Edwards’ statement refers to Sen. Schumer’s voting in favor of three of Trump’s choices for administrative roles, despite previously stating he planned to vote against eight of them.
