Today is August 1 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. And don’t forget to download the free DML App from the Google Play or Apple App Store to remain connected to me throughout the day.

1-GOP lawmaker dies in plane crash
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Seven people, including an Alaska state lawmaker, died Friday when two small airplanes collided in midair near the airport in Soldotna, a small community on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula.

Alaska State Troopers said state Rep. Gary Knopp, 67, of Kenai was the sole occupant of one plane. The other plane was flown by a local pilot, and carried a guide from Kansas and four people from South Carolina.

“This is an unfathomable tragedy for multiple families today,” Alaska Department of Public Safety Commissioner Amanda Price said. “Troopers and partner agencies have worked together diligently at the scene and have reached out to next of kin to notify them of this heartbreaking incident.”

DML: It’s never easy reporting this sort of things, many people just lost a loved one.  May they rest in peace.

2- Hurricane Isaias moved toward Florida
Several states in the U.S. Southeast were bracing early Saturday as Hurricane Isaias approached — expecting it to impact the region this weekend and early next week.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency Friday for all of the state’s counties along the Atlantic coast. The declaration affects 19 of Florida’s 67 counties, and all beaches, marinas and parks have been closed in those areas. Twenty evacuation centers were on standby as well.

The hurricane, which forecasters say could reach the shores of Florida first, was expected to hit “as early as late tonight into tomorrow morning, with the potential to increase in strength to Category 2 [hurricane],” DeSantis said at a news conference.

Below are two tweets from the governor within the past 24 hours.

DML: I wonder if Floridians will be mandated to wear masks during the storm. I mean, come on folks, don’t you understand how the virus can spread airborne. On a serious note, we at TeamDML pray for our friends and fellow Americans to be safe and healthy.

3-Rioter gets punished for arson
A Portland, Ore., man was charged in a criminal complaint Friday with allegedly throwing an explosive device at the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse. Authorities say security cameras caught 18-year-old Gabriel Agard-Berryhill throwing an “incendiary object” into the entrance of the building near midnight on July 28, causing an explosion inside the downtown courthouse.

“No legitimate protest message is advanced by throwing a large explosive device against a government building,” U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams said Friday. “Mr. Agard-Berryhill’s actions could have gravely injured law enforcement officers positioned near the courthouse, other protesters standing nearby, or himself.”

The explosion started a fire inside the courthouse, prompting federal officers to collect samples of the fragments to be sent to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) laboratory for analysis.

DML: Videos are a beautiful thing when an attorney general is willing to prosecute.  If want this nonsense to end, more punishments must be handed down!  Trump and Barr must continue to enforce law and order nationally.

4-AOC Refers to Canonized Saint Fr. Damien Who Served Lepers as Part of ‘White Supremacist Culture’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) denounced the presence of a statue honoring canonized saint Father Damien, who ministered to lepers and died of the dreaded disease, as a remnant of “white supremacist culture.”

In an Instagram story Thursday, in which the congresswoman took her followers on a tour of the U.S. Capitol building, she spoke about the lack of statues memorializing minority figures and referred to the images of America’s honored historical figures from all 50 states as a nod to colonialism.

“Even when we select figures to tell the stories of colonized places, it is the colonizers and settlers whose stories are told – and virtually no one else,” Ocasio-Cortez said, specifically pointing out Hawaii’s statue, that of Father Damien. “It’s not Queen Lili’uokalani of Hawaii, the only Queen Regnant of Hawaii, who is immortalized and whose story is told,” she continued. “It is Father Damien.”

Ocasio-Cortez continued: “This isn’t to litigate each and every individual statue, but to point out the patterns that have emerged among the totality of them in who we are taught to deify in our nation’s Capitol: virtually all men, all white, and mostly both. This is what patriarchy and white supremacist culture looks like! It’s not radical or crazy to understand the influence white supremacist culture has historically had in our overall culture and how it impacts the present day.”

Writing for Catholic News Agency, however, Matt Hadro reported that Dallas Carter, a native Hawaiian and a catechist for the diocese of Honolulu, observed St. Damien of Molokai is a “hero” to the people of Hawaii.

DML: And this is one major reason why I am moving out of New York.  Imagine the sort of brainless heads that voted for this riot-influencing, race-baiting, dumb as a rock loud mouth known as AOC.  What does AOC mean?  Asshole Of Congress.  New York can swim in the vat of acid they voter for: DeBlasio, Schumer, AOC, and Cuomo.

5-Racism is a “Health Crisis” in CO
According to the Denver Post, the state of Colorado will declare racism a public health crisis following a push by staffers inside the state’s health department to respond to ongoing social-justice protests and the inequities highlighted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Since June, employees at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment have pressed Executive Director Jill Hunsaker Ryan to make such a public declaration and became increasingly frustrated when she didn’t move faster to do so.

When asked this week about those internal conversations, Hunsaker Ryan told The Denver Post the state will join the American Public Health Association in declaring racism a public health crisis, and that will become formal policy within the health department.

In doing so, Hunsaker Ryan said she has two goals: to increase diversity in the department’s workforce, which is almost 78% white, and make it easier for local community organizations that provide services to people of color to partner with the agency. She also plans to hire an equity and inclusion officer for the department, potentially by the end of August.

DML: The only crisis in this country is the brain disease called “Political Correctness’, aka ‘Liberalism.’  If you are a white person and want a job working for Ryan, I think the only thing you can do is change the color of your skin.  This can only be accomplished by means of standing under the sun.  Be sure to do it correctly.  If you don’t stay in front of the sun long enough you will be red in color, and that’s racist against Indians.  Proof of this is the recent decision to change the name of the Washington Redskins because it is deemed racist.  If you remain in front of the sun for days and weeks at a time, odds are high you can get a crispy tan.  This will make it so you can be Latino or half-black.  You may end up with skin cancer, but apparently that’s not a crisis — so you should be OK in terms of getting a job.

MY PARTING WORDS: Am I the only person who makes sense these days?  Maybe you are asking yourself the same question.  If you are, allow me to answer you by saying ‘YES.’  If you think that America is going to the crapper in such a way that we’ll never remove the stink, you are not alone.  With that said, you have to be smart in everything you do.  If you like to feel great, if you want to sleep better, boost the immune system and give yourself a fighting chance, they go to DMLcbd.com today and get starting on a program that can possibly change your life for the better.  Yesterday, I announced an amazing deal that includes an insane amount of free DML CBD.  I warned that inventory would not last long, and I was correct.  There is still a little bit of time to get involved in this offer.  Follow these instructions:
