Today is July 19 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. 1-Portland protestors go rogue
Fox News reports that protesters broke into a building, set it on fire and started dumpster fires late Saturday night in Oregon’s largest city, police said, as demonstrations that have been taking place since the death of George Floyd intensified for another night in Portland.
The fire at the Portland Police Association building was put out a short time later, Portland police said on Twitter. The department declared the gathering a riot, and began working to clear the downtown area.
Tear gas was deployed, according to pictures and video from the scene. Fencing that had been placed around federal courthouse had also been removed by protesters and made into barricades, police tweeted.
2- Trump administration sued by Oregon
Breitbart is reporting that Oregon’s Justice Department is suing multiple federal agencies for civil rights abuses, and state prosecutors are looking to file criminal charges against an officer who seriously wounded a protester.
The lawsuit names the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Federal Protective Service as agencies that have used force against protesters since early July. The state filed the suit on Friday.
U.S. Justice Department spokeswoman Kristina Edmunson told OPB that the lawsuit would accuse the agencies of taking part “in unlawful law enforcement in violation of the civil rights of Oregon citizens by seizing and detaining them without probable cause.”
State attorneys would request that a judge issue a temporary restraining order, which “would immediately stop federal authorities from unlawfully detaining Oregonians,” the DOJ said in a release.
DML: Is there any question this morning that Oregon is far gone?
3- Dems suggest $350 Billion in reparations
Senate Democrats are proposing a $350 billion measure designed specifically to “address systemic racism and historic underinvestment in communities of color,” via the Economic Justice Act, which they announced on Thursday.
Democrats view the measure as an “important down-payment to answer the calls to address systemic racism and historic underinvestment in communities of color.”
DML: It’s official, the nation is officially divided. Here is the perfect answer given by a social media user who commented on the news. I think it defines what many people think at this point, albeit their skin color being anything but black. “Not to mention AFFIRMATIVE ACTION which gave blacks first dibs into colleges and jobs. There are very few none blacks working in any government job. No matter what we do it will never be enough for the radical blacks.”
Another person wrote this: “No amount of money will be enough. No amount of affirmative action or any other hand out. Blacks will never move away from their culture which is not exactly conducive to prosperity and a lasting sense of pride and accomplishment. You can give everything to them, but you can’t make them make use of anything to help their race.”
4- Mary Trump tells NPR ridding of president is matter of life and death
From NPR: Mary Trump describes how her grandfather’s relentless business ambition was passed down to Donald Trump in her new book.
When speaking of growing up in the Trump family, Mary says the following of the president. “Honest work was never demanded of him, and no matter how badly he failed, he was rewarded in ways that are almost unfathomable. He continues to be protected from his own disasters in the White House,” she writes in the tell-all.
“But now the stakes are far higher than they’ve ever been before; they are literally life and death. Unlike any previous time in his life, Donald’s failings cannot be hidden or ignored because they threaten us all.”
The White House has repeatedly dismissed the book as a money grab by the president’s niece.
DML: This woman either needs attention, money, or both. I’m thinking the strong economy didn’t feel like a death sentence, but paying reparations to blacks surely will. Give this chick her 15 minutes of fame and then dump her off in Portland where she can join the mentally deranged.
5- Fauci proves he’s a dipshit
Sorry for the profanity, but according to Dr. Fauci, the lab rat expert who can’t find his ass with both hands, many parts of the United States didn’t do enough to combat the coronavirus — but New York state did.
“We’ve got to do the things that are very clear that we need to do to turn this around,” Fauci told PBS NewsHour. “Remember, we can do it. We know that when you do it properly, you bring down those cases. We’ve done it. We’ve done it in New York.”
“New York got hit worse than any place in the world. And they did it correctly by doing the things that you’re talking about,” added Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases — and a member of the White House coronavirus task force.
DML: This dude is a ready for the coo-coo farm. Seriously, he’s been playing with lab animals for too long. Please, someone tell this narcissist that New York state has seen more than 400,000 cases of coronavirus and nearly 28,000 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University; it has the most COVID-19 cases of any state in the U.S. Cuomo sent sick people into nursing homes, thus, making them exposed in ways that led to unnecessary death.
