Following the news that Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) was diagnosed with brain cancer, Joe Scarborough, co-anchor of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” cited McCain in order to criticize President Donald Trump.
After a video clip featuring McCain at a town hall event during the 2008 presidential campaign was shown, Scarborough intimated that Trump lacks the character and honor of the senator.

In the video, then-presidential candidate McCain listens to a statement from a woman who, in Scarborough’s words, questioned the “patriotism” of Barack Obama, McCain’s opponent.
The woman said, “I can’t trust Obama. He’s an Arab.”
McCain politely took the microphone from the woman as he shook his head and said, “No, ma’am. He’s a decent family man, citizen, that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues, and that’s what this campaign is all about.”
When the clip ended on “Morning Joe,” Scarborough said, “My God, what we would do to have a leader like that.”
Scarborough and his co-host, Mika Brzezinski, have been highly critical of Trump on-air, and recently engaged in a Twitter feud with the president.
