Governor Mike Pence’s reaction to Trump’s tribute was a silent tribute in itself that spoke volumes.
As Donald Trump was giving his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention Thursday evening, he inserted his appreciation for his new running mate and vice-president nominee, Governor Pence.
Trump said, “In this cause, I am proud to have at my side the next Vice-President of the United States, Governor Mike Pence. We will bring the same economic success to America that Mike brought to Indiana.”
As the crowd gave Pence a standing ovation, Pence rose to his feet, acknowledged the crowd, silently saying “Thank you” to Trump, and then he did something quite unexpected – he saluted.
Trump saw the salute. The silent message passed between the two running mates, both committed to make America great again, was poignant and powerful, briefly caught by the cameras.
