An Atlanta mother, Lamora Williams, 24, is facing murder charges after she allegedly killed her two young sons “by placing them in an oven and turning it on” sometime between Thursday and Friday of last week.
According to police reports, 1-year-old Ja’Karter Penn and 2-year-old Ke-Yaunte Penn suffered fatal injuries, including burns.
Williams initially told police that she left her three kids in the care of a relative and when she returned, the two boys were dead, reports said. But police didn’t think she was telling the truth.
The father of all three children, Jameel Penn, says Williams called him by video chat Friday night to tell him his children were dead. Penn told reporters that he called police after seeing his sons on the floor. A third child, 3-year-old Jameel Penn Jr., was found unharmed.
“I ain’t got no soul no more,” the distraught father told reporters. “Ja’Karter, Ke-Yaunte, my world, my everything. I’m lost.”
Penn also told them that little Jameel saw the whole thing. “He talks about his brothers, and he knows what happened. He talks about it all the time,” said Penn.
Williams’ sister, Tabitha Hollingsworth, says Williams has suffered from mental health issues throughout her life and should be placed on suicide watch in the Fulton County Jail.
Williams has waived the right to her first court appearance.
