Mainstream media networks are more focused on labeling President Trump as a white supremacist than covering real news stories, such as the fact that Rep. Debbie Wassermann Schultz’s ex-IT aide was indicted on four counts of conspiracy on Thursday. Imran Awan was arrested in July at Dulles airport while boarding a flight to Pakistan.
The criminal charges against Awan and his wife are not directly related to their congressional IT work, but involve their individual scheme to obtain home equity lines of credit on rental properties which they misrepresented as being their actual residences, as well as then wiring the money to their personal checking accounts in Pakistan.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia indicted Imran Awan, 37, along with his wife, Hina Alvi, 33. The pair were charged with unlawful transactions involving “commerce in criminally derived property of a value greater than $10,000, that was derived from bank fraud and false statements on a loan or credit application.”
The indictment outlines how Awan tried to send a $283,000 wire transfer to Pakistan in January. When a wire transfer specialist called and asked to speak to his wife, Alvi, he pretended to be Alvi. He first said the money was for “funeral arrangements,” then later changed his story and said it was for “purchasing property,” according to the indictment.
DML Reports and other non-MSM news networks in pursuit of the truth have been covering the scandal since the story first broke back in February, but those who get their news from major mainstream outlets, such as CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and NBC are probably not even aware of developments about this case.
None of the aforementioned networks reported that Awan had been indicted, despite the fact that he was under federal investigation for cybersecurity violations and was being paid by Wassermann Schultz until the day after his arrest.
A study by the Media Research Center showed that the big three broadcast networks – CBS, ABC, and NBC – didn’t mention the story at all. Similarly, research by The Daily Caller shows that cable networks CNN and MSNBC didn’t talk about the story either.
Fox News’ Sean Hannity was the only major news anchor to address the scandal on Thursday.
