MSNBC host makes shocking allegation over Trump’s Gillibrand tweet (video)

President Donald J. Trump sent out a tweet on Tuesday that brought a scathing response from MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski.

Trump’s tweet targeted at Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), whom he said was willing to do “anything” for a political donation. Brzezinski took it to mean that the president was suggesting sexual favors were included.

“Let’s just say it,” Brzezinski declared. “He’s suggesting that Kirsten Gillibrand would have sex with him in order to get campaign contributions. The president actually tweeted that this morning.”

In his tweet, Trump called Gillibrand a “lightweight” and said she used to come “begging” to his office for campaign funds. He did not say what Gillibrand would do for the funds.

While some saw the tweet as an insinuation that Gillibrand was willing to have sex with him, and called it a form of sexual harassment, the Washington Examiner notes that Trump “has used this kind of language before.”

In 2016, he said Mitt Romney used to beg him for money.

“He was begging for my endorsement. I could have said, ‘Mitt, drop to your knees.’ He would have dropped to his knees,” Trump said.

Brzezinski was so angry when reporting on the tweet Tuesday morning, she said Trump’s comment was “derogatory and disgusting,” and in comments directed at the president of the United States, said: “You treat women terribly, and you treat women around you even worse. And you treat women like punching bags because it’s fun for you because you are intimidated by women.”

She then attacked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, one of three women who lead the president’s communications team, including Hope Hicks, the White House communications director; and Mercedes Schlapp, a senior adviser for strategic communications.

Brzezinski said, “Sarah Huckabee Sanders, good luck today in the briefing. Don’t lie, and do not defend the president of the United states for what he did. If you do, you have no accountability and you should step down from your position. You should resign.”

Later, Brzezinski addressed Huckabee Sanders again, saying, ” Today is your day to say that the president is a sexist, that the president’s tweet was totally … inappropriate, and that [you] can’t work for a president that would say something like that about a female sitting senator for the state of New York. You have got to do the right thing. You have got to stop. You have got to do the right thing. Today is your day.”

Brzezinski emotionally declared that the tweet was extremely important and impactful, while a commentator on the panel lamented the fact that in spite of Gillibrand’s accomplishments, she was treated badly only because she is a woman.

Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) also attacked Trump’s tweet and spoke in defense of Gillibrand. Read more about it HERE.
