Mueller adds another controversial prosecutor to Russia probe

Special counselor Robert Mueller has added muliple left-leaning lawyers to the Russia-Trump investigation team. Late Friday, reports came in of yet another addition to the team – this one just happens to have previously worked for an attorney Trump fired.

NBC News reported just before midnight Friday that Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Goldstein will be joining Mueller’s team. Goldstein was a top New York federal prosecutor under U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, a holdover from the Obama administration who President Trump fired in March after he refused to resign.

Goldstein, 43, has been with the U.S. attorney’s office since 2010, working in the money laundering and asset forfeiture unit, and is a graduate of Yale Law School.

Now he will be joining the prosecution team to investigation Russia’s alleged meddling into the 2016 presidential election.

His former boss, Preet Bharara, tweeted out his congrations, saying, “Andrew Goldstein, my corruption chief, joins Special Counsel Mueller. Best of best in every way. Fair, tough, smart.”

Bharara has continually spoken out in criticism against President Trump since his firing.
