The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the United Kingdom’s leading children’s charity, warned that child sex crime allegations, including rape and sexual abuse, are at a record high, with an average of 177 cases being reported each day.

Responses to Freedom of Information requests submitted to police forces throughout the U.K. revealed that there were 64,667 sex crimes against children under the age of 18 reported in 2016/17 — a rise of 15 percent from the previous comparable time frame.

Children aged 10 or under were the victims in almost 14,000 of the alleged cases, with 2,788 offenses perpetrated against children aged four or under.

“This dramatic rise is extremely concerning and shows just how extensive child sexual abuse is,” said Peter Wanless, chief executive of NSPCC. “These abhorrent crimes can shatter a child’s life, leaving them to feel humiliated, depressed or even suicidal. That is why it is crucial every single child who has endured abuse and needs support must get timely, thorough help so they can learn to rebuild their lives.”

The NSPCC found that an online element existed in approximately 10 percent of the cases, and that the emergence of online abusers is a “significant problem” that has contributed to the increase in sexual offenses against children.

“These new figures suggest the police are making real progress in how they investigate sex offences against children,” Wanless said. “To help them tackle the issue going forward, we must ensure the police are equipped to work with other agencies and provide ongoing support and training to officers on the front line.”

Breitbart reported that an examination of previous alleged child sex offense records published by the NSPCC revealed that the majority of child sexual abuse cases were occurring in areas with significant ‘Asian’ populations.

Jihad Watch took issue with Breitbart’s description of the alleged perpetrators. “First came the phrase ‘Asian’ to describe the Muslim men who were abusing young British girls. Then came the phrase ‘grooming gangs,’ as if these rapists were gangs of hairdressers. These terms are used to continue the inexcusable coverup of the large-scale rape and abuse of young girls by Muslim men, and to divert attention away from the beliefs that lead some Muslim men to believe that they have the right to sexually abuse infidel girls who are unveiled.”

The record-setting reports of sexual abuse of children represents a portion of data that shows that the rate of serious crime has surged in recent years throughout the U.K., especially in England.

According to figures released in October by the Office for National Statistics, there has been a 19 percent increase in sexual offences and violence against the person, and a 22 percent increase in rapes.
