Mystery Fireball Lights Up Midwestern Sky

Dashcam cameras from several police vehicles in Wisconsin and Illinois captured a phenomenal meteor flashing across the sky over Lake Michigan early Monday morning.

The fireball in the sky was visible from several states and occurred about 1:30 a.m., causing a sonic boom that shook houses.

According to meteorologist Jeff Last of the National Weather Service, it is unknown if the meteor broke up in the sky before it landed or if it fell into the lake.

The American Meteor Society reported that over 185 people contacted them about the event.

Below is the video footage of the incredible sighting.
