On Wednesday, the U.S. military revealed that a North Korean missile was fired and exploded “within seconds of launch.”
The launch was attempted at Kalma, a city on North Korea’s east coast. Neither the United States, Japan, nor South Korea has confirmed exactly what kind of missile was used in the failed launch.
The Ministry of Defense in South Korea has confirmed the incident in their northern cousin country: “South Korea and the US are aware of the missile launch and to their knowledge, North Korea’s missile was not successfully launched.”
Just yesterday the Trump administration said it is considering broad sanctions targeted at cutting off North Korea from the global financial system as part of a wide-ranging review of measures to counter the country’s nuclear and missile threats.
