N. Korean Dictator’s Brother Assassinated

The older brother of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un was assassinated by two females who attacked him with “poisonous needles” at a Malaysian airport, according to reports.

Kim Jong-nam, 45, was known as the “playboy” older brother of the dictator and the two did not get along. Nam died on the way to the hospital after he collapsed at the airport.

Though details are sparse, Selangor state police chief Abu Samah Mat said this about the occurrence: “The man went to the airport clinic complaining that he had been sprayed by some liquid and was in pain and died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital. That man turned out to be Jong-nam and the assailants fled after they hailed a taxi from the airport.

The women were described by the local media as North Korean operatives.

Kim Jong-nam’s death was confirmed by Malaysian police but the South Korean government has yet to confirm the story. If true, it would be the highest-profile death under the Jong-un regime since the execution of the leader’s uncle, Jang Song-thaek, in December 2013.

Kim Jong-il, the country’s late dictator and father of both Kim Jong-un and Kim Jong-nam, had an illicit relationship with married actress Song Hye-rim in the 1960s. Kim Jong-nam was the product of that affair; his mistress had the child in 1971.

Jong-il’s younger son and now N. Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un did not get along with his older brother, who had constantly criticized his younger brother’s rule. Kim Jong-nam was always in fear for his life.

In Macau in 2011, a North Korean agent had made a failed assassination attempt on Kim Jong-nam’s life that ended in a major shootout with his bodyguards. Jon-nam fled to another city at that time.
