Nation Clinton Upheld as Example is Flogging Women

Indonesia – a nation that Hillary Clinton has upheld as proof that modernity and Islam can coexist – is carrying out brutal floggings under strict enforcement of Islamic Sharia law.

A 20-year-old women accused of standing too close to her boyfriend has become the latest victim to be publicly whipped, receiving 23 lashes across her back until she collapsed, screaming in pain, and was carried to a hospital.

The punishment was carried out on an outdoor stage in front of a jeering crowd.

The Daily Mail reported that the woman was one of 13 people between the ages of 21-30 to be flogged at the mosque that day, including six couples.

According to Sharia law, intimacy before marriage is forbidden, including no touching, hugging or kissing.  Don’t even get close.

One man was whipped for just spending time alone with a woman at a private location, which “could lead to adultery.”

The floggings reportedly occurred in the Indonesian province of Banda Aceh, which is stricter about enforcing Sharia law than the rest of the country. Other offences that can merit similar punishment include gambling, drinking alcohol and gay sex.

Sharia law is being enforced in the area not only for Muslims, but also for non-Muslims, including Christians.

When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Indonesia in 2009, she made the statement, “As I travel around the world over the next years, I will be saying to people: if you want to know whether Islam, democracy, modernity and women’s rights can co-exist, go to Indonesia.”

Indonesia is also the country where Obama lived and attended school for four years, after his mother, Ann Dunham, married Indonesian Lolo Soetoro following the end of her marriage to Obama’s Kenyan father.
