Navy apologizes for pilot’s vulgar sky drawing

Naval aviators are in hot water with their superiors after using U.S. aircraft to “draw” a rendering of a penis in the sky over Okanogan County, Washington.

Residents of Okanogan County spotted the phallic drawings in the sky Thursday, and some of them documented the occasion on Twitter.

Officials with the Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Wash., confirmed to KREM 2 News that Navy pilots were responsible for the drawings.

“The Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards and we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable,” Navy officials said in a statement.

KREM 2 spoke to the Federal Aviation Administration to gather more information about who may have created the sky drawing. FAA officials said unless the act poses a safety risk, there is nothing they can do about it. The official added that they “cannot police morality.”
