New AZ Law In Response To Trump Protest

The penalties for blocking highways just got a lot steeper.

In March, protesters shut down a highway and backed up traffic for miles, to block access to a Donald Trump campaign rally.

Arizona Governor Doug Doucy signed a new bill into law Monday that would increase the penalties for anyone who intentionally obstructs roadways to block access to political or government events, from a Class 3 to a Class 1 misdemeanor.

The offense could result in a $2,500 fine or up to six months in jail.
