News reports that golf legend Tiger Woods, 41, was arrested for drunken driving set the media abuzz Monday.

New information has now come forth that he was not drunk at all, and alcohol was not even involved.

Instead, his condition was reportedly due to a reaction to medications he was taking.

When police officers found Woods early Monday, he was asleep, sitting behind the wheel of his Mercedes, with the engine still running.

The arresting officer had to wake him up, and reported that he had “extremely slow and slurred speech.”  The officer said Woods was “co-operative, but confused,” and unable to walk alone.

He said he did not know where he was, and first told the officer he had been golfing in L.A.

The breathalyzer test indicated no alcohol was in his breath.

He later said he was taking several medications, as a result of a recent back surgery, and did not realize the mix of medications had affected him so strongly.

“I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Woods stated.

He was released from the Palm Beach County jail at about 10:30 local time Monday.
