It appears the Democratic National Committee “got themselves a real winner” in their new leader, former labor secretary, Tom Perez.
The newly elected DNC chairman has extremely lofty goals.
According to Perez, during a speech in Atlanta, he is going to help the Democratic Party recover from its poor showing in the 2016 elections.
His ultimate goal is to rebuild the Party by forming “57 state parties.”
Perez told the Atlanta crowd:
“I frankly found myself, when I first got into this race, going to their (Republican) website because I was learning a lot. Sally [Boynton Brown] and I had lunch a number of times talking about our shared interest in building 57 state parties that work.”
If the “57” number sounds familiar, it should. In 2008, President Barack Obama said the following while campaigning:
“I’ve now been in … 57 states? I think one left to go.”
