Hillary Clinton has released a new video in which she encourages and thanks Democrats for protesting, marching, and heckling GOP leaders at town hall meetings.
“I’ll always be proud of the campaign we ran; a campaign that was better and stronger thanks to each of you,” Clinton says in the video, describing the recent “coming together” of disgruntled Democrats as representing the party “at its best.”
The former presidential contender appears on the Democrat Party’s official YouTube channel, saying that recent protests equal progress.
“After the primary, we came together to write the most progressive platform in history. Everywhere, people are marching, protesting, tweeting, speaking out, and working for an America that’s hopeful, inclusive, and big-hearted. From the women’s march to airports, where communities are welcoming immigrants, refugees, and people of every faith, to town hall meetings, where people are speaking up for health care, the environment, good jobs, and all the other issues that deserve our passionate support.”
On Saturday, it was reported that protesters in Louisiana heckled a local veteran while he led the pledge of allegiance and booed when “in Jesus’ name” was said following an opening prayer. Clinton appears to be calling this sort of behavior a “passionate” response. Such “passion” has caused several states to introduce laws which would criminalize the protests.

According to Clinton, Democrats are using “the resistance” to rebuild their party after being caught off guard by Donald Trump’s surprising victory.
“Among those millions making their voices heard are future mayors, city and state officials, governors, members of congress, even future presidents,” she tells her followers. “Let resistance plus persistence equal progress for our party and our country.”
