A super-PAC is intent on initiating a multi-faceted attack on Wednesday in an effort to confront President-elect Donald Trump over potential business conflicts of interest.
David Brock, the founder of the super-PAC, American Bridge, has set up a website called, “TrumpMustSell.biz,” which details all of Trump’s alleged conflicts of interest. Along with this website, Brock set up Snapchat’s geofilter feature.
Wednesday is the day President-elect Donald Trump has set for his media press conference.
The website outlines all of Trump’s business holdings around the world on an interactive map and, on Wednesday, Snapchat’s geofilter will pinpoint buildings such as the Trump Tower in Manhattan, Trump International Hotel in D.C., and Capitol Hill. The Snapchat filter will feature a cartoon drawing of Trump that says, “Tell Trump: The presidency is not for profit”.
The website details a report titled, “Cashing In: How Trump Will Profit Off His Presidency,” that demands the president-elect “completely sell his family’s stake in his businesses,” as well as release his tax returns.
According to the president of American Bridge, Jessica Mackler, “Donald Trump is on the verge of turning the entire federal government into a subsidiary of his business empire. This isn’t just unprecedented in American history, it’s unethical and unconstitutional.”
President-elect Trump had released a statement after his presidential win explaining that his three oldest children would take over the Trump Organization and run all of the businesses.
The American Bridge report states that “Most ominously, Trump’s refusal to sell off his businesses will give hostile foreign governments and companies a foothold in the White House — and lead to an unprecedented constitutional crisis.”
Mackler feels that “Trump’s refusal to sell off his business will enable his family to make billions while endangering our national security. Trump must sell off his businesses now or risk provoking a constitutional crisis that could sink his presidency.”
