New Media Going too Far to Silence Pro Trump?

Facebook to create a feature that will push content in people’s news feeds from publishers specifically chosen by the company itself.

According to Breibart, “the feature, which will be known as Collections, will reportedly promote news stories, videos, and other content from publishers “handpicked” by Facebook.”

This move has come about after massive complaints of “fake news” being posted on Facebook and many people now stating this is the reason why Trump won.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has called that claim crazy insisting that, “The idea that fake news on Facebook, of which it’s a very small amount of the content, influenced the election is a pretty crazy idea.”

Facebook did donate $35 million dollars to the Clinton campaign.

Another social media site, Reddit.com, has, according to Foxnews, begun censoring supporters of Donald Trump.

Reddit.com has hundreds of millions of users. There censorship was discovered over the Thanksgiving holiday week when Reddit’s CEO, Steve Huffman, used his administrative access to the site to alter angry comments directed at him and making them appear they were directed at Trump.

Huffman admitted doing this and said “as the CEO, I shouldn’t play such games, and it’s all fixed now… I most assuredly won’t do this again.”

However on Wednesday, Huffman wrote,  “Due to some “toxic” users”, he would begin to censor all posts in a pro-Trump section of the site called The Donald, by limiting the ability of posts there to reach what many consider the “front page” of Reddit – where the posts get seen by a wider audience.

Huffman added,“We have identified hundreds of the most toxic users and are taking action against them, ranging from warnings to timeouts to permanent bans.”

The volunteer moderators who run the Trump section of Reddit.com said they weren’t surprised by the censorship and that “despite the limits imposed on them”, they will continue spreading their pro-Trump message on site for as long as they can.
