WikiLeaks: Obama Wanted a High Level Fence on the Border… to Stop Illegal Immigration

Maybe it was a change of heart. Maybe it was the sway of the voters. Maybe it was the influence of George Soros. While these are all “maybes,” there is one definite that has become clear thanks due to a new release of emails by WikiLeaks: President Obama, the “Champion of Change,” wanted a high level upgraded fence and security on the U.S.-Mexican border to stop illegal immigration.

In a released memo from September 7, 2008 during the days of Obama campaigning for his first presidential term, it’s revealed one of the president’s “core goals” was to “preserve the integrity of our borders to reduce illegal immigration.” Here’s even more anti-illegal immigration details from the memo:

“Securing our borders will not solve the illegal immigration problem in isolation, but combined with an earned path to citizenship for the undocumented and new legal alternatives to unauthorized entry, some additional fencing could help get the border under control… Additional fencing on the border is not a comprehensive solution, but it sometimes helps deter people from taking the risk of entering illegally,” the memo states.

Furthermore, the memo delves into Obama’s own personal beliefs on the matter and where his stance originally was:

“[Obama] supports physical fencing along the border under very specific circumstances, where it makes sense as a matter of security and to act as a deterrent to unsafe undocumented entry.

[Obama] believes fencing should be built where necessary and agreed to in coordination with local governments, Indian tribes and done in an environmentally sensitive manner.

[Obama] supports additional personnel, infrastructure, and technology on the border and at our ports of entry.

[Obama] believes we need additional Customs and Border Protection agents with better technology and real-time intelligence.”

It’s strange to see that our current open-borders president originally wanted to tailor his policies to combating the waves of illegal immigration at the southern border. Since his election in 2008 and re-election in 2012, Obama has constructed most of his immigration policies to allow illegals entry into the U.S., much to the chagrin of border patrol and ICE agents.
