Newsweek promotes possibility of Clinton presidency

Is there still a chance that Hillary Clinton could be installed as president? A Newsweek story published Thursday claims there is.

Written by Newsweek’s “breaking news reporter” Maya Rajamani, the story was actually based off of a Medium post by Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig written in October.

Lessig claimed that President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence could both resign if Trump was found guilty of colluding with Russia during the election. From there, Lessig went on to insist that House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) should appoint Clinton as his vice president. After that, he should just resign, leaving “Crooked Clinton” as the commander-in-chief.

“He should nominate the person defeated by the treason of his own party, and then step aside, and let her become the President,” he stated.

In addition to the article being dated, as well as absurd, the Thursday story was unusual in that the outlet already covered the exact same Medium post when it was written three months earlier, pointed out an article in the Washington Free Beacon.

Newsweek was promptly mocked on Twitter by journalists who noted the scenario had basically no chance of actually happening.
