NFL Player Takes A Knee – For A New Reason

An NFL player is once again starting a protest movement.    If you have something to protest – anything to protest – the new way to do it is to kneel down during the playing of the national anthem.

Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans chose his moment to take a knee during the national anthem performance Sunday, before the game began between the Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears.

Evans is bent out of shape over Trump winning the election, and claims he won’t stand for it.   He stated that when a “reality star” can be president, that’s just “not a good look for America.”

“I don’t want to, you know, disrespect the veterans or anything,” he said in a locker room interview. “The men and women who serve this country, I’m forever indebted to them. But the things that’s been going on in America lately, I’m not going to stand for that. When Ashton Kutcher comes out and says we’ve been punked, then I’ll stand again. But I won’t stand anymore.

“I said this a long time ago. When [Trump] ran, I thought it was a joke, and the joke continues. I’m not a political person that much, but I got common sense. And I know when something’s not right.”

Dylan Gwinn, writing for Breitbart, pointed out that Evans is a bit mixed up by kneeling for the national anthem, asking, “Since when did “The Star Spangled Banner” replace “Hail to the Chief” as a symbol of the American presidency?”

In the interview, Evans was asked if he heard the booing from the crowd when he kneeled down, and he admitted he did, but said, “It was from the people that I expected it to be from,”  discounting fans who paid good money to come watch him play football.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that Evans admitted in an Instagram post that he didn’t even vote in the election.

The slams against his kneel are coming in fast on Twitter:

One person even posted a video from 2014 when Evans got in a brawl at a nightclub:
