NFL spokesman to Trump: “This is what real locker room talk looks like”

NFL spokesman Jeff Lockhart continued the league’s open indictment of President Trump on Monday, saying their protests against racial inequality are “real locker room talk.”

According to Yahoo Sports, Lockhart said the conversation has been ongoing inside NFL locker rooms. Players are not talking about which club they are going to after the game, they’re talking about how they can translate their success on the football field to positive change for their communities.

“Everyone should know, including the president, that this is what real locker room talk is,” Lockhart said.

Lockhart’s comments are in reference to Trump’s infamous defense of the leaked “Access Hollywood” tape that heard him talking about his treatment of women. “Grab them by the p—y,“ Trump could be heard saying in the video. Trump later contextualized the comments by saying they were just “locker room talk.”

Trump has faced relentless backlash for his comments about NFL players kneeling for the national anthem at a rally in Alabama on Friday.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b—- off the field right now. Out, he’s fired!’” Trump said at the rally for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange, as the crowd roared its approval.

“You know, some owner’s going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner will be the most popular person for a week because that’s a total disrespect of everything that we stand for,” Trump said.
